PLA Carbon filament
PLA Carbon filament is a modified PLA with adding of 10% carbon fiber. Thus the thread acquires higher rigidity and hardness. Also it resists stretch better while maintaining the low shrinkage and excellent adhesion to the desktop of pure PLA. Products printed with this material have a matte surface. And this is significantly improves their aesthetic properties.
Material characteristics
- Increased hardness and stiffness compared to pure PLA.
- Higher plasticizing temperature.
- Improved abrasion resistance.
- Much higher compressive strength.
- Good mechanical properties.
- High aesthetics, matte surface quality.
- No shrinkage after cooling.
Where is PLA Carbon used
- Items that need to be very rigid and hard while maintaining dimensional accuracy.
- Components subjected to static compression loads.
- Development of concepts and demonstration prototypes of designed finished products and semi-finished products.
- Decorative details (aesthetic properties).
- External structural components that emphasize the product.
- Prototypes.
3D printing with PLA filament Carbon
This type of plastic for 3D printing contains a significant amount of carbon fiber in its composition. This can contribute to faster wear of the nozzles, which must be taken into account when choosing them.
Recommendations for 3D printing with PLA Carbon filament are as follows: use nozzles with a diameter greater than the standard value of 0.4 mm. Since the presence of carbon fibers can cause wear on standard nozzles, use hardened steel or ruby tips for long-term use of Spectrum Carbon PLA.

Package
The thread is wound on a neat transparent spool. Each spool contains information about material type, diameter, color, and recommended printing temperature. The thread is packed in a vacuum with a moisture absorber. All product is packaged in original Spectrum Filaments foil packaging.
Filament Quality Check
Spectrum Filaments is the only company in Poland and one of the few in the world that has a tool for testing purchased filaments. VERIFY YOUR SPOOL is the most accurate quality control system on the market, ensuring that Spectrum Filaments products meet his stringent requirements.
Filament for 3D printers is produced by free extrusion, which is one of the most difficult extrusion processing technologies, due to the particularly significant influence of process parameters on product dimensions and material homogenization. During the manufacturing process, each 1mm of Spectrum Filaments is continuously measured in 2 axes with an accuracy of ±0.8 µm, resulting in a quality end product. To prove this, Spectrum Filaments, as one of the few manufacturers in the world, has introduced the possibility of an online presentation, individually for each coil produced:
- the course of diameter on the entire length of the spool;
- average diameter;
- ovality;
- standard deviation.
Dimensions of the spool
- Outer diameter - 200 mm.
- Width - 55 mm.
- Inner diameter - 52 mm.
- Empty spool weight - ± 220 g.
