Cartridge Formlabs ESD Resin, 1L

Cartridge Formlabs ESD Resin

The ESD Resin cartridge contains a resin developed by Formlabs, specifically designed for 3D printing components for static-sensitive applications. These can be parts, housings and accessories for electronics, non-standard parts for industries where there is a risk of static electricity, and other. It is a strong and durable material that creates affordable and reliable parts that meet ESD safety standards.

Printer compatibility: Form 3, Form 3B, Form 3L, Form 3BL, Form 3+, Form 3B+.

Resin Tank compatibility: Form 3 Tank V2/V2.1, Form 3L Tank.

Work Platform compatibility: Form 3 Build Platform, Form 3 Build Platform 2, Form 3 Stainless Steel Build Platform, Form 3L Build Platform.

Print quality: on 3D printers Form 2, Form 3/3B - 50, 100 microns; Form 3L/3BL - 100 µm.

Requires final polymerization.

Antistatic Formlabs ESD Resin

ESD Resin parts safely dissipate static electric and are able to repel dust and powder. It is used to create: antistatic prototypes and reliable non-standard end parts, housings for protecting sensitive electronics from electrostatic discharges, tooling, tools, fixtures and similar parts designed for long-term use in the factory.

ESD Resin Formlabs for 3D printing dissipates static electricity

Advantages ESD Resin

Use two key features of ESD polymer in your production:

  • Dissipation of electrostatic discharges. Critical electrical components are protected from electrostatic discharge and failure.
  • High strength. ESD Resin has a high tensile modulus of 1,937 GPa and an impact strength of 26 J/m. This makes it ideal for industrial applications.

Why choose a dissipative polymer

Using ESD Resin for 3D printing in your production, you can:

  • Create cheap non-standard production tools with ESD protection.
  • Cheap test workflows for electronics manufacturing and printing shockproof parts by prototyping with ESD Resin.
  • Reduce risks and improve work efficiency.
  • Increase the productivity of your electronics production lines.
  • Expand manufacturing with 3D printing of durable fixtures and fittings for automotive, aerospace and electronics industries.

Application of ESD Resin

Static electricity is a problem in the manufacturing industry. Materials that accumulate static electricity can discharge near conductive materials, which can damage electronics and other sensitive components.

Most plastics, including Formlabs resins, are insulators. They can store static electricity and discharge it on contact with conductive materials. Formlabs ESD Resin is specifically designed to safely dissipate static electricity, making it ideal for producing durable custom parts that meet ESD safety standards. By using grounding (anti-static mats, grounding cables), you will ensure that static charges are safely dissipated.

When grounded, static dissipative materials allow electrical charges to pass through, allowing electrons to travel across the surface to the ground point. An additional advantage of such materials is antistatic properties, due to which small particles such as dust, powder and polystyrene foam do not stick to them. The accumulation of contaminants often leads to the failure of fragile electrical and mechanical systems. Manufacturers have traditionally protected equipment from static electricity buildup through metalworking. From now on, you can use 3D printing for this.

Comparison with other materials

Surface resistivity measures the resistance to current flowing across the surface of a material. The higher the resistivity, the less conductive the material. ESD Resin is more conductive than other Formlabs resins, allowing electrical charges to flow in a controlled manner.
