ABS Medical - biocompatible plastic for 3D printing

ABS Medical is a high-quality plastic for 3D printing, specially designed for medical applications, production of parts that come into contact with food or the human body. The material was tested and approved for biocompatibility and contact with food.

The material is made of ABS granules that meet the requirements of biocompatibility class VI or ISO 10993-1. This guarantees biocompatibility for up to 30 days with local contact with the human body of parts made of filament.

The material is also approved for contact with food in accordance with the standards: EU 10/20111 and 21 CFR FDA.

Spectrum Group Sp z o.o. ensures that the base material does not contain any additives and has not been modified during the yarn production process.

ABS medical plastic packaging

The thread weighing 1.0 kg is carefully wound on a transparent spool. Each spool contains information about material type, diameter, color, and recommended printing temperature. The thread is packed in a vacuum with a moisture absorber. All product is packaged in original Spectrum Filaments foil packaging.

Filament for 3D printers is produced by free extrusion, which is one of the most difficult extrusion processing technologies, due to the particularly significant influence of process parameters on product dimensions and material homogenization. During the manufacturing process, each 1mm of Spectrum Filaments is continuously measured in 2 axes with an accuracy of ±0.8 µm, resulting in a quality end product. To prove this, Spectrum Filaments, as one of the few manufacturers in the world, has introduced the possibility of an online presentation, individually for each coil produced:

  • the course of diameter on the entire length of the spool;
  • average diameter;
  • ovality;
  • standard deviation.
