HIPS-X filament Spectrum Filaments 1,75 mm / 1,0 kg

Impact-resistant HIPS-X filament Spectrum Filaments

HIPS-X filament Spectrum is a high-impact auxiliary material designed for additive manufacturing for FDM/FFF technology. It is typically used for 3D printing of supports for ABS components, where HIPS-X supports are dissolved in D-Limonene solution after the manufacturing process is complete. In addition, you can use Spectrum HIPS-X as a base material to make components that require less shrinkage during processing than ABS.

Spectrum HIPS-X demonstrates high resistance to shocks and compression. It also allows you to get matte surfaces with reduced visibility of the layer. Like ABS, HIPS-X allows machining, such as grinding, turning, milling, and more. The low hardness of printed products allows you to easily separate parts of the material with sharp tools.

Mainly used as an auxiliary material, Spectrum HIPS-X is also designed for industrial applications where impact-resistant or partially energy-dispersible components are required. Due to its low hardness, HIPS-X can be used in art, in particular in sculpture.

HIPS-X characteristics

  • Improved aesthetic qualities with the matte surfaces of the printed items.
  • Lower shrinkage rate than classic ABS.
  • Possibility of mechanical treatment (drilling, turning, milling or grinding).
  • Thermal resistance – HDT B 88 °C.
  • Vicat softening temperature – 96 °C.
  • High impact resistance.
  • Energy absorption and dissipation capabilities.
  • Good for large prints.
  • Light.
  • Fully soluble in D-Limonene.
  • Matt surface.

HIPS-X usage

  • Support material for ABS.
  • Industrial applications which require impact resistant components or components with a capability for partial energy dissipation.
  • Concept and demo prototyping of designed finished and semi-finished products.
  • Packaging.

HIPS-X Packaging

The thread weighing 1.0 kg is wound on a transparent spool, which contains information about the type of material, diameter, color and recommended printing temperature. Each coil is packed in a vacuum with a dehumidifier. All in the original Spectrum Filaments foil cardboard.

Coil dimensions

  • Outer diameter - 200 mm.
  • Width - 67 mm.
  • Inner diameter - 52 mm.
  • Weight of empty coil - ± 250 g.

Verify quality of 3D plastic thread

Spectrum Filaments is the only company in Poland and one of the few in the world that has a tool for testing purchased filaments. VERIFY YOUR SPOOL is the most accurate quality control system on the market, ensuring that Spectrum Filaments products meet his stringent requirements.

Filament for 3D printers is produced by free extrusion, which is one of the most difficult extrusion processing technologies, due to the particularly significant influence of process parameters on product dimensions and material homogenization. During the manufacturing process, each 1mm of Spectrum Filaments is continuously measured in 2 axes with an accuracy of ±0.8 µm, resulting in a quality end product. To prove this, Spectrum Filaments, as one of the few manufacturers in the world, has introduced the possibility of an online presentation, individually for each coil produced:

  • diameter travel along the entire length of the coil;
  • average diameter;
  • ovality;
  • standard deviation.
